clarinet ensemble

some clarinet mates in my toshiba wind ensemble asked whether i wanna play for a clarinet festival (a concert featuring clarinet ensembles all ard japan, or maybe just the region) some time back. i figured that they were interested, and thought it was impolite to reject, so i said ok, i mean, why not?

anyway after i threw my name into the hat, i found out that only the best clarinettists and ensembles join this festival, and by joining, we would probably be the worst group of all. as my concert master puts it,

this works both ways for me i guess. firstly, it will make us (me?) work hard to match others' standards. secondly, it will ease the pressure for me, i mean, since we are expected to be the worst, we cant possibly fare any worse than that rite?

ok... not the right attitude... *winz now changing to more positive attitude* ... there! ok! gambarimasu!

anyway, of cos, there were lots of correspondence going on between the ppl gg to take part, and in one of the mails that one person (the initiator of this actually) wrote, she wrote this -

"今回参加しようと決めた最大の理由は,Winston が今年度しかいないからなのですが,彼が得意とする Vibrato を活かした曲をどこかで入れたい。"

that certainly heaped the pressure on me. first of all, i must stress that i am not writing this for an ego-boost or anything... just a little worried by this.

it is rather ironic considering my clarinet skills is kinda expendable in singapore, but in japan, where the music standard is much higher than that of singapore, at least one part of my playing is recognised.

i am now worried that ppl have too high expectations of me, worried that i will be given the first part (most probably i guess), and worried that i will cock up in the festival (highly probable too), worried that when all other members are pia-ing practising, i will still be slacking...

can shihao or hongyi come and take my position pls?
