wow, you wouldn't know how long i took to churn out the above few lines! gosh.... 5 months and a-counting and my japanese is still so under par... sigh... and I'm sure it's full of errors... anyways...
so as i was saying, i went snowboarding over the weekend with a couple of frens (Calvin, Tshush, Damien, Fangyi). we went to the Happou Ski Resort in Hakuba, Nagano, where the 1998 winter olympics was held.
snowboarding is quite fun actually, although i did have some serious problems standing up on my snowboard... well i believe this problem stems from the fact that i cannot do the chinese squat properly (my ankles dun allow me to do so), so i can't stand up well. took a great amount of effort to do so. initially, since it was the first time, i spent quite a long time going down the beginner's slope as i wasn't able to stand up time and time again. this really wasted my time on the snowboard - i was spending more time trying to get up rather than trying to snowboard. well by the time i got down to the foot, my frens have already got down twice (standing up is effortless for them).
well.. finally found a way to solve that problem. the only way to not have to standing up problem is --- to not fall down.. haha.... on my 3rd or 4th time down the slope, i managed to board down pretty well, with only 1 fall per trip. so i guess it's pretty easy to board, using the falling leaf method. haven't advanced to the s-curves and all yet though... hmmm... will try it the next time i go there. and from the little i tried, it's not going to be so easy...
frens may remember that after my ski trip in canada, i vowed i had enough of ski for my entire life... well but snowboard, being much easier and more fun, i'm sure i will be back for more! muahaha... hehe.... glad that i tried snowboarding =)
from left: tshush, damien, me and calvin, before one of our descents... don't ask me why i'm wearing the naruto get up, it's rental and it's randomly assigned. it stinks too, ha.
