parents in japan!

why am i in my dorm on a saturday evening blogging? gosh... super no life...

my brother-in-law, eric tan is here in tokyo this weekend..... but i got relegated by his frens so can only meet up with him tomorrow morning for breakfast, before he flies back to singapore in the afternoon...

anyways, so back to the no-life saturday.... will have a photoblog of me and my parents...

my parents came to visit me in japan from 9th to 16th april... and well here are our journey log in photos... ;)

my parents and i, in asakusa...

so the important question... do i look more like my father or mother? ;p i seriously dunno.. some say one, but many say others... mixed reviews...

anyways i brought them to asakusa the day they arrived...

askusa sells lots of omiyages and trinklets and souvenirs... this is one of the omiyages...

the guy using his foot to prepare the dried sotong (i think)... eww... how gross...

asakusa looks nicer with the sakuras blooming...

mum 求签...

afterwhich, we headed to the nearby sumida river (隅田川) to view sakuras...

check out the sakuras lining the opposite bank...

pink sakuras that look white due to my camera's weird auto settings...

3 of us resting on a bench... the groundsheet at our feet belonged to someone who put it there to "book seats" for the next day of sakura picnic...

jap's sakura picnic can last the whole day, and even into the night... here, a group of them are having steamboat!

sumida river by night...

sumida river is a very popular sakura viewing spot in tokyo... also, the biggest fireworks festival in tokyo is also here...

more night shots... ;)

the next day (i think), i brought them to harajuku and meiji shrine...

look! more sakuras... hehe.... i think by now, most of u are tired of watching sakuras liao...

entrance to meiji shrine... can u see my dad and mum in this pic?

the rest of the harajuku pics are errmm... unsorted... hehe... so maybe next time...

sometime later, dunno when, we walked pass the tokyo international forum... and it really looked quite pretty at night...

at the tokyo international forum.

on the saturday before they left, i brought them to hakone, tokyo ppl's favourite onsen spot... although this is my second time there, touring around the area was the first time for me (cos the first time i was there was with my sister, and we only went for onsen)...

1 of the only photos in the entire collection where you can see all three of us smiling so brightly... dun ask me why though... can't rem ;p

ok, from this photo, i think i look quite like my mother, doncha think?

in gora park (強羅公園)...

this is what they call a cable car... different from what we singaporeans call a cable car...

... and this is what they call a ropeway... think we singaporeans call this a cable car instead ;p

the sign says,"happiness bell" supposedly ppl who ring this bell will be happy.

cloudy sky meant that we couldn't see mt fuji that day

the pirate ship ferry ride

my mum's cold... strong breeze and all...

nice sparkling waters... quite inviting for a dip right? this is actually lake ashi, or in english, the leg lake... hehe...

so anyways my father and i went to an onsen for awhile, but my mum refused to try (she shy)... afterwhich, on our way back to tokyo, we stopped by odawara castle for some pictures...

tiles on the pavement leading to the castle... it says "welcome to odawara castle".

there... the final pic in this post... us with odawara castle...

more on my parents' trip here to follow... ;)
